Santander by night

Discover the city by night

Santander offers a wide variety of nightlife and although everything is close by, there are several differentiated areas:

Peñaherbosa

Around Puertochico

This area covers a large amount of streets that offer a wide variety of establishments of different styles.

Many people start the night in Puertochico, and then go to the streets of Hernán Cortés, Peña Herbosa or Bonifaz, all parallel to each other. The first two are characterised by their bars and restaurants for have a few snacks or a complete meal, while the last one stands out due to its restaurants where tasting menus are offered to try many different dishes.

The streets of Arrabal and del Medio also belong to this area, both very close to plaza Porticada and they stand out due to their bars serving snacks. The Mercado del Este and other bars of the same style are all very close by. If you like to dine on snacks in a peaceful atmosphere, don’t forget to come to this area.

Cañadio

Plaza Cañadío

Many start their night here. If you have been dining in any of the nearby streets and are looking for somewhere to have a drink while chatting to your friends, this is your place. If things liven up, you can go to any of the bars in the same square or in the streets around it.

RioPila

Río de la Pila

Did you know that “La Marejada” emerged in this area? It was a musical movement that took place in the decades of the 70s and 80s, covering styles ranging from punk to techno-pop. There is nothing left of it now, but it is still one of the favourite haunts of the younger generations. Here there is a mixture of more modern bars and more alternative ones.

Cañadio

Calle del Sol

If you are looking for an atmosphere that is completely different to all the above, this is without any doubt your street. Bars with different atmospheres where, if you are lucky, you can enjoy live music. A good area if you like to enjoy good music and if you are looking for a quieter place where you can talk.

El Sardinero

El Sardinero

Although many associate this area just with a place to walk and the beaches, El Sardinero is a good area if you are looking for somewhere to have a drink in a peaceful atmosphere. You can go into any of its bars and have dinner while drinking a glass of wine, eating an ice cream or if you prefer, go to the Casino and enjoy a completely different evening.
