It is an emblematic periurban beach located in the area of San Román with fine golden sand and a length of 380 metres. It offers enough space to enjoy the peace and quiet.
It has sand at low tide; at high tide there is no dry sand surface.
It owes its name to the discovery of the carving of the Virgin among the rocks here. For this reason, next to the beach, there is an island that houses the chapel of the Virgen del Mar, patron saint of the city of Santander.
Its setting is of great beauty, as it blends the sand with the rocky and green surroundings of the island, making this the ideal place to enjoy the Costa Quebrada.
Access is easy as it has a large parking area, but it can also be reached by the municipal bus service, which has a stop nearby.
Due to its crystal clear waters, the beach of La Virgen del Mar is ideal for divers to enjoy the beautiful seabed of this area.
