The Interpretation Centre of the Old Docks

Santander Bride of the Sea

In 2006 and 2007, during the extension of the Alfonso XIII car park, part of the old docks built in the 16th century, the Muelle de Anaos, the 18th-19th century, the Muelle de Agustín Colosía, and in the 19th century, the Muelle La Ribera, were discovered.

The discovery led to the creation of this centre, a space that gives visitors the opportunity to delve into the different historical periods experienced in the city. An educational tour that uses the stones of the old docks as a canvas and an excuse to transport the visitor to other centuries.

We hope that The Interpretation Centre of the Old Docks can be reopened to the public very soon so that visitors can learn in depth about the history of the city and the past of Santander Port.
